Looking for things to do in Hoboken after your move to New Jersey? There are many exciting things to discover, including how the neighborhood got its name (it has to do with tobacco).
After a smooth move, there’s nothing like settling in and exploring your new surroundings.
Good news – there are tons of fun things to do in this neighborhood, and we’d love to share some of our favorite spots with you. Here are five great things to do in Hoboken – beyond day trips to Manhattan.
The western shore of the Hudson River can be surprisingly tranquil.
View the Manhattan skyline while enjoying a coffee, and take a wander along the riverbank.
The railed walkway stretches out into the river, where a small human-made island hosts a play park and green spaces. It’s suitable for walking, cycling or running.
Once you’ve checked out the walkway, try walking on water. Well, in truth it’s not quite that impressive, but it’s pretty close.
There’s a SUP (Stand-Up Paddle Boarding) school right on the Hudson River. Take a board out for a leisurely paddle around the river.
There are classes for beginners, fitness sessions, and even yoga. The company also does paddleboard tours up to the Statue of Liberty!
Support your local community by attending and spending at the Hoboken Farmers’ Market.
It takes place every Tuesday at Church Square Park in midtown from June through November. Expect music, entertainment, baked goods, fish, organic goods and much more.
And if you’re ever looking for somewhere to eat out in Hoboken, watch for local restaurants who source from traders at the Farmers’ Market.
There are plenty of art galleries in Hoboken.
Don’t miss the Roig, Issyra, hob’art, Proto or Barsky Galleries. And there are many more than these (as well as down the road in Jersey City).
Barsky caters to contemporary tastes, while the hob’art plays host to a number of exhibitions to unearth new local talent.
If you’re looking for cultural things to do in Hoboken, we don’t think you’ll ever be short of options!
Luckily, there are loads of things for families to do as a group in Hoboken.
Check out the Fire Department Museum, and put your kids right in the driver’s seat. Go kayaking on the Hudson with them. Or head for the jungle gym at Elysian Park.
